Joel Abad is an Illustrator, muralist, and graphic designer from Barcelonawho who runs Grafficants, a graphic design studio. He’s done work for Vans, Harley-Davidson, Warner Music, Arnette, Rockzone Magazine, HFMN Crew, Ripper Seeds, Crème International, and RockAction Productions (among others). He’s also done work for bands such as Nofx, Lagwagon, Against me!, The Queers, Marky Ramone, The Ataris, MxPx, Biohazard, Blowfuse, Crisix, Pennywise, Bad Religion, The Toy Dolls, Sick of it all, and Satanic Surfers.
We’re stoked to announce that artist Ian Bederman has joined us on our trip to The Planet of Doom! Bederman will be joining a band we’ll be announcing shortly for a chapter you won’t wanna miss! Ian Bederman is from Austin, Texas, and is a tattooist at Royal Legion Tattoo. Together with writer Danny Cates, Bederman unleashed the tremendous Atomahawk strip, which appears in Heavy Metal Magazine. A deluxe, over-sized edition of the strip was reproduced by Image Comics back in October of 2017.
We’re stoked to formally announce that the band Space Witch will be bringing their glorious psychedelic sludge to the film! Their latest album “Arcanum” is available on HeviSike Records and features cover art by fellow POD brethren Adam Burke. We can’t wait to hear what they come up with!
Behold the full opening credits sequence from Riff Lodge Animation‘s THE PLANET OF DOOM! It features art, music, and animation by the film’s director, Tim Granda. This is an early cut so expect tweaks and updates in the completed film.
Though some of what you’ll see here will tie into events later in the film, this sequence was designed to be spoiler free. For that reason we don’t expect to be previewing anything of this length again, though we will share some clips from time to time.
Also, prior to the start of these credits, we’ll be featuring all the logos from those who sponsored the film. Since we’re still waiting on a few of those, that section will be animated at a later date.

Here’s a quick peek at an early animation test featuring artwork by Skinner. This chapter will feature music by Phillip Cope, but since he’s still finishing up his track, we thought we’d give you a taste of some original film music by the band Vokonis! This is the first of many clips we’ll be sharing throughout our production. Hope ya dig it!
All of us here at The Planet of Doom are stoked to announce that the Swedish band Vokonis has just signed up for the film. Check them out if you haven’t already, you’ll be thrilled you did! Word is, they’re headed back to the studio next month to lay down their POD track while recording material for their brand new album.

Sweden. One of those chosen countries. And definitely when it comes to allthe heavy stuff we all love so dearly. The list of amazing bands coming from that country is simply endless, and new ones pop up every day. Some of which of course stem from outfits that stopped for whatever reason at the time. One of them is Vokonis, comprised out of members from Creedsmen, Arise, and Ginger Trees. A power trio in every sense of that word. Powerful. Heavy. Doom. Stoner. Metal. All of it applies to a maximum and all of them fall short in telling the real story of Vokonis. For that you will have to experience the full force of the six amazing tracks on their debut effort called Olde One Ascending. They dipped deep into the pool of Iommi and drank heavily of everything Sabbath and Sleep while clashing their cups which are filled to the brim with majestic riffs and exalted repetition with fellow countrymen Monolord. Like the laugh of a man sentenced to death, their trucking sends shivers down your spine. And even though all the tracks have that hazy stoner doom edge, they all have a very own atmosphere and identity. And they are all of such a high level and transcending nature one can only expect Vokonis to rise and reach even greater heights then what was expected or the Creedsmen. Yes, that Ozium Records label knows where the truly good stuff can be found. Yes, Olde One Ascending is solid, roadworthy and amazing. Smoky tunes for gnarly beards drowning in pints of lager. We love it!
